NTSE TN 2018-19 Stage 1 Exam Notification and Dates

First Stage of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) 2019 which will be held on 04/11/2018 (Sunday) for the students presently studying in Class X in Tamil Nadu Government, Govt. Aided and Unaided recognized Private Schools including KVS, JNV etc. under the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu State NTSE Stage-1 Notification has been published by the Directorate of Goverment Educations - DGE, Chennai on 20th-August 2018. NTSE Stage 1 Exam is going to be Conducted as per below given schedule in Tamil Nadu State:

Tamil Nadu NTSE 2019 Stage 1 Exam - Eligibility Criteria

- All students currently studying in class 10th from any recognized school of the Academic Year 2018-19.

- Students should have minimum 60% marks (for General/OBC) and 55% (for SC/ST/PH) in Class 9th in the session 2017-18.

Tamil Nadu NTSE 2019 Stage 1 Exam - Scholarship Offered

About 1000 scholarships are awarded for different stages of education with reservation of 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC and 4 % for Physically & Hearing Challenged candidates:

1. 233 students will be selected through NTSE Tamil Nadu Stage-1 Exam for the NTSE Stage-2.
2. Scholarship of Rs.1250 per month for Class 11th and class 12th.
3. Scholarship of Rs.2000 per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
4. Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.



Tamil Nadu NTSE 2019 Stage 1 - Exam Pattern

Tamil Nadu NTSE Stage 1 Exam is going to be conducted in two parts, i.e. Paper-I & Paper-II. Details of both the papers are given below:

Tamil Nadu NTSE Stage 1 Exam: Paper-I (Mental Ability Test - MAT)

1. Exam Timings: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (30 Minutes Extra Time for Visually Challenged)
2. Number of Questions: 100 | Number of Marks: 100
3. Duration: 120 Minutes
4. Qualifying Marks: 40% for General / OBC and 32% for SC / ST / PH
5. No Negative Marking.
6. Medium of Examimation: Tamil or English

Tamil Nadu NTSE Stage 1 Exam: Paper-II (Scholastic Aptitude Test - SAT)

1. Exam Timings: 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM (30 Minutes Extra Time for Visually Challenged)
2. Number of Questions: 100 (Science: 40, Mathematics: 20 and Social Science: 40)
3. Number of Marks: 100
4. Duration: 120 Minutes
5. Qualifying Marks: 40% for General / OBC and 32% for SC / ST / PH
6. No Negative Marking.
7. Medium of Examimation: Tamil or English

Tamil Nadu NTSE Stage 1 Exam: Selection Criteria

- Only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit
- Selection of the awardees will be made on the basis of total Marks scored in MAT & SAT based on merit

Tamil Nadu NTSE 2019 Stage 1 - Exam Syllabus

- There is no prescribed syllabus for the NTS examination. However, the standard of items shall be conforming to the level of Class 9 and 10.

- The Question pattern for SAT will be based on the syllabus for Class IX and X prescribed by the STATE, CBSE and ICSE Examination Boards.

Tamil Nadu NTSE 2019 Stage 1 - Exam Result

- The result of State Level Talent Search examination is declared in months of January / February by the States / UTs themselves.
- This examination is used only to recommend the candidates for second level NTS examination conducted by the NCERT.
- The marks of the State level Examination are not added to the National Level Examination for award of scholarship.
- No correspondence will be entertained by the NCERT with regard to NTSE Stage 1 examination conducted by the State/UT.
- The candidate having any query/ complaint/ clarification with regard to the State Level Examination shall have to correspond only with the state examination agencies.
